Smudge the Wonder Dog by Sheryl Fisher-Acosta

LOCAL DOG TALE WALKS THROUGH JOURNEY OF SELF DISCOVERY

Smudge the Wonder Dog by Sheryl Fisher-Acosta, a fictional book based on a true story, shares a puppy's adoption adventures from the dog and owners' perspectives

PASO ROBLES, Calif. - "Smudge the Wonder Dog (1456547356) by Sheryl Fisher-Acosta seeks to share a fictional tale based on an inspirational true story, as told by Smudge, a Great Pyrenees puppy from Atascadero, and her new owners, Sherie and Donald of Paso Robles.

Smudge, a young and rebellious puppy, is misguided at an early age by her mother to believe that life will always be perfect. However, when she is adopted by a new family she is forced to adapt to a strange, new environment with two dogs that have already established their territory: Willie, a kind Australian Shepherd, and Reba, a mean and jealous Basset Hound. Homesick, Smudge tries to plot her escape back to familiar surroundings but is met with hard obstacles and challenges, as well as lessons from her new friend, Willie. Following a near-death experience, Smudge learns to love and trust her new home and family.

"The adventures Smudge encounters offer lessons that originate from true life experiences," says Acosta. "This story is based on life events that I thought should be shared in a fun and bright way."

Acosta hopes readers will discover how growth, love and understanding can emerge out of adversity in this chapter book for young readers and their families. She believes that this book has a unique appeal to broad audiences as it is told the perspective of both the puppy and the owners.
